ditto to daniel. something to look at in the mirror every single day of your life to never forget. something to mark a moment that absolutely needs marking. and the image comes naturally, it just comes up and up in your mind and falls into place. and then when you talk to the artist and they know what they're doing and you tell them why you want what you want and they make it perfect. and if its perfect, then it will never give you regret. but it has to have meaning.

I think I can sum up your entire entry:

I don't understand tattoos. And so I am going to come with a bunch of analogies about it, but in the end, I'm still not going to understand them.

Well, first off I would have to say that we are all judgmental and we all have vices. So, I'm not sure if this is all fair to the girl you were speaking of in the beginning.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with tattoos really. I have looked at someone for instance the student teacher of my history class in 11th grade who had tattoos of cats and jute boxes all over his body and thought, wow that's really ridiculous. However, if people can get tattoos and never regret them than more power to them. I usually like them better when they have some sort of meaning, but I did see a girl once who had an old fashioned revolver tattooed on her hip and it was awesome looking and it was very her. I'm not sure if it had any significance, but she has had it for awhile and she's never regretted it so... more power to her.

I might would get a tattoo if I could find something that would always mean something to me, and that I would always like. I probably wouldn't get it in a super visible place because I'm just like that. However, all in all I really don't mind them.

If you have ever seen the show "Miami Ink", and looked at most of the people that go in there to get a tattoo: For some its a memorial to a loved one, a commemoration of a birth or even an almost therapeutic experience where they get something to remind them of a time that they have come out of. I think that is the kind of tattoo that is worth getting and having for life not so much an image grafted into their skin but a representation of something greater in their live. For example, I worked with this kid who had a simple tattoo that of a border of 4 squares. It was blank but he explained that for each important event, graduation, marriage, childbirth and retirement, he would get something in each of those squares. Pretty cool.

On the flip-side, I think trendy tattoos, and ones relatively devoid of meaning, serve no purpose and aren't worth getting

I like the idea of something I think has eternal meaning to me, expressed through art, being apart of me.

The hard thing for me is figuring out what has that much value to me, how I would express it through a picture, and where I would want it.

Just a thought.

The "Society of Step" picture looks like it should be in a college brochure. You know? The ones that they send you to make it look like everyone at that college smiles all the time because they are so happy to be passing all of their classes.

Wow. It seems that most women would prefer a jerk to a pushover. I don't think this decision is based on either of these archetypal characters, however. It isn't a question of spineless vs. abusive, it's more submissive vs. assertive. You want a man that acts like a man.
Amarisita: That's not French, booboo.

Ok, so I had to comment on this one, especially since you don't have a Facebook account anymore. O di egwu, o. Granted, many a grade has dropped due to use of the Face, but people waste time on a lot of things!
There are a lot of people on Facebook that I have no other means of reaching. Since my dad has banned me from long-distance calls from my cell phone, I can only talk to my cousins in Nigeria through Facebook. And friends from boarding school? From my other high school? See? It's useful!
Idk, no one should be 'addicted' to it. There are a lot addictions out there that are much more exciting...
